Who is Superwoman?
Lois Lane and Lana Lang never managed to get along but after Clark's death and the consequences that brought, both of them will have to learn to work together to follow his example.
The beginning of a brand new story starts here.
Phil Jimenez' premise focuses on both character in particular: Lois and Lana who obviously share a connection after being very close to Clark. This would have been enough to create an interesting dynamic between the two but the writer actually goes beyond that by developing the ramifications of Clark's death and giving both of them superpowers that forces them to work as a team.
The characterization is really good. Jimenez did something I was hoping for a while, making this particular version of Lois actually LIKABLE. Her motivations are pretty strong and understandable and her dynamic with Lana is quite enjoyable, most importantly, he manages to make their interactions interesting without forcing a conflict between them and showing that both can actually get along.
Speaking of Lana, most of the narration comes from her and the source and execution of her powers was pretty creative by being based on the Superman Red and Blue mythos. Her motivations are just as solid as Lois' and the final pages create an intriguing cliffhanger for her.
Jimenez' artwork is simply beautiful by being able to pack a lot of story in every single page with a pretty detailed style for the characters and environments.
Great content, characterization and story. This is one of the most promising new books this week.
