Hercules has been fighting against evil for centuries and his battle is far from over.
Herc has been getting accustomed to the modern age despite that he has constantly to keep fighting monsters and demons to save humanity. However, there's something going wrong recently and he needs to find what is causing it.
This marks the beginning of yet another series focusing on this highly underrated Marvel character. I have been a fan of Hercules since the series written by Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente who portrayed him in a more comedic way as a warrior with a huge heart. This time the book is handled by Dan Abnett, so does this series delivers the same kind of entertainment.
Well, I would say that for the most part it does.
The writer thankfully focuses on the "everyman" aspects of the character by making him live in a simple apartment along with his roommate while still concentrating on his job as a superhero by helping kids to save the people they care about. It's a pretty charming portrayal that is quite fitting for the protagonist.
There are also some themes going on like how Hercules needs to keep developing to become a even greater hero in modern times while sub-plots are being currently planted that will most likely be explored in the future.
Luke Ross handles the artwork and he has a pretty beautiful style by making every character look good while depicting the action scenes powerfully.
Strong beginning definitely, invested in the future.
