Whatever happened to Prowl?
The Wreckers have been suffering recently after the events in Garrus-9, not only because their leader, Springer, has been in a coma since their last battle but also because each one of them is having problems to deal with it. However, there will be bigger concerns at the moment since Prowl's disappearance could compromise their whole race.
The sequel to one of the best Transformers stories ever is finally here. I have been commenting a few times in the past how Last Stand of the Wreckers delivered an impressive story full of great characterization and powerful moments and its creator, Nick Roche, is back to handle the follow-up. How does it fare?
Pretty solidly I would say.
Since the first pages you can tell that Roche is following several of the subplots that he created, not only from Last Stand of the Wreckers but also from his whole work in the IDW history. There are several mentions about Kup's condition that was created by Roche in a particular early story as well as Prowl's faith in Springer that was also explored early on and this constructs a pretty coherent continuity.
Nonetheless, the best aspect about this is how the author plays with the ramifications of his last story focusing on how Impactor, Guzzle and Roadbuster deal with their problems and the fact they survived. The characterization works wonderfully in that sense and it offers several entertaining scenes.
Plus, the mistery about Prowl's fate is still being developed and will most certainly have strong consequences for the plot.
Roche himself handles the art once again and he's the best person to tell his own tale obviously. The expressions of the character are quite clear and demonstrate their emotions perfectly while the storytelling is really precise.
Promising opening chapter without a doubt, I need the next one now.
