New threats deserve new Avengers.
Tony Stark is still dealing with the fact that he has lost everything but he will have no time to keep thinking about it since a being from another planet is putting the whole human race in danger.
This issue marks the beginning of this team and I sadly can't really say "team" since a lot of the members from the supposed cast haven't appeared yet.
Mark Waid delivers an opening chapter where he focuses on some key players like Iron Man, Captain America, Ultimate Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel and Nova. However, in this first issue they barely behave like a team, they're not working together yet and sadly, that makes the whole story progression a bit slow.
There are some things to like about the story which is divided in two parts. The first one is focused on Sam Wilson, Tony Stark and Miles Morales and their interaction is pretty entertaining and on-point, the dynamic is well-executed but aside from that there's not much. The art is handled by Adam Kubert and his work is good looking for the most part with expressive characters and strong action scenes.
The second segment belongs to Ms. Marvel and Nova and this is easily the most entertaining part of the issue. The dynamic between the two is quite believable considering that they're just kids and their reaction to one another ends-up being pretty funny. Mahmud Asrar is in charge of the pencils here and his work is definitely the best from this whole installment with beautiful looking characters and precise storytelling.
I would say that I enjoyed this as a whole but I hope there're more progress in terms of plot.
