Can Catwoman save every person she loves?
The final battle between Selina and Eiko is about to start and the latter is starting to get more and more desperate with her actions. Now, Selina will have to confront her former lover if she wants to help the rest of her family as well as her.
Okay, this issue marks the conclusion of Genevieve Valentine's era on Catwoman, so as an ending, does it delivers?
Kinda but not so much.
For one, Valentine's run started quite strong with a pretty unique take on the character that depicted her in much more serious and complex light. However, after a few issues it was pretty obvious that the story was not progressing at a proper pace and the whole style was starting to get predictable and repetitive.
This chapter follows basically the same formula with the author playing with the ramifications of the previous issues putting Eiko against Selina. The problem is that, again, I don't feel their relationship was developed enough to make you care about this whole conflict, there were not enough emotional nor passionate moments between the two despite that they were supposedly in love.
For that reason, the conclusion ends-up being a bit cold and a bit too fast which sadly closes the book for a run that could have been something really special but it ended-up being kinda underwhelming.
David Messina handles the artwork and I'm really becoming a fan of him. His work is quite reminiscent of Terry Dodson's with a semi-cartoony style that makes the expressions of the characters great.
So yeah, not really happy with this. Hoping for the better for the next creative team.
