The war for Gotham continues and there are new players being involved.
Selina's relationship with the rest of the mob families is getting more and more problematic while her own relationship with Eiko is starting to follow the same case and things are about to get worse once that Stephanie Brown arrives to get what Selina owes her.
Well, this issue certainly follows the same formula from the previous ones.
Genevieve Valentine's writing remains as strong as ever. The portrayal of all the members from the cast is great, you can get easily invested in what each character wants and needs as well as the different actions they're willing to commit to achieve their objectives. Is definitely rich in terms of personalities.
Plus, the appearance of Spoiler is something I always welcome and I'm glad they're developing that plot-point from Batman Eternal.
However, I have a complaint this time, I feel like the story should reach its climax at this point. This has been a quite unique, smart and interesting take on the character but I wish that the plot would progress faster to actually see more ramifications and developments, it's starting to get a bit repetitive in the kind of read we have. It's still really well-written but doesn't offer many surprises aside from that.
David Messina handles the pencils and his work is probably one of the strongest from this run with beautiful characters and a semi-cartoony style that is still a nice fit for this story.
Solid issue I would say but I hope we start going somewhere.
