The Justice League will need to remain united if they want to face a new threat.
The team has lost a few members after their last mission and they will need to get new ones to confront a being who can become a danger to life itself. No matter how different they can be from each other.
This issue marks the beginning of a new run this time handled by Jeff Parker who replaces Jeff Lemire in the title, is Parker able to deliver a satisfying result?
I would say that thankfully he does.
From the beginning of the issue you can note that this is a more unique story than what you usually find in this title and all of this is due to the great presentation that the plot has. The way how each page tells the current events make the chapter a pretty interesting read.
However, one of the best parts of this issue is the characterization. The new members Swamp Thing, Mera, Poison Ivy and Jason Blood receive really good portrayal that emphasize the kind of people they are, their abilities and how different they are from the old cast. This also presents some interesting segments focusing on the interactions between these characters.
Travel Foreman is a huge reason why this issue is so good in terms of storytelling. His artwork delivers the script in a quite distinctive way making every layout show the narration in a manner that complements such drawing and the events are clearly detailed.
Pretty good issue, excited to see more.
