Some thoughts about Futures End #12

Whatever happened to Batman and Brother Eye?

Frankenstein and the rest of S.H.A.D.E. continue on their mission to find the culprit of the death of Stormwatch, the mysterious Faraday keeps his manipulation towards the different people who work for him and finally the fate of Bruce Wayne in a world controlled by machines is revealed at last.

Well, this issue delivered in a few things, that's for sure.

The story progresses at the usual pace in which different sections are being developed but the questions tend to overtake the answers as you might expect.

The Frankenstein scenes are mostly a big battle with a little surprise at the end. The Faraday segments are well written and offer nice character work but also more mysteries. There's a scene with one of the new villains that works competently too.

However, the best part for me was at the end where we learn what happened to the Bruce Wayne we saw in issue 0, not really because it was surprising but because it was quite well-executed moment. Oh, and it includes the Joker which makes it all better.

Jesus Merino provides the artwork for this issue and while it's solid for the most part his style is not really that distinctive nor impressive.

A solid issue overall, but I think I liked it mostly for the last pages.
