Some thoughts about Robin Rises: Omega #1

Life has not been easy for Batman lately.

He not only had to deal with his son's death as well as the usual ramifications that produces but also with desecration of his corpse by none other than Damian's grandfather, Ra's Al Ghul. Things are not getting easier however, since the Apokolips' forces are getting involved now and they're planning to take Damian out of Bruce's life once again.

This pretty much serves as both an epilogue of the previous "Hunt for Robin" arc as well as a prologue to the new "Robin Rises" storyline and fortunately it does both stories justice.

Despite that I initially didn't understand Peter Tomasi's decisions to include Apokolips in this storyline, it makes sense considering the events that occur here. It also makes some interesting references to Batman's history with the New Gods and the author does a good job by narrating the previous events that lead to this point.

Tomasi also does a good work at portraying the different members of the Justice League who appear here while creating an intense battle for the fate of Damian. This pretty much follows the "Brave and the Bold" style that the writer used on the previous arc and truly functions as a culmination of it.

Andy Kubert is in charge of the artwork and his work is simply gorgeous, he was the perfect person to handle this considering his involvement with Damian Wayne in the past. The characters look beautiful, the action is powerful and the storytelling is solid.

A good beginning for the new arc undoubtly, hopefully it will turn out to be better than the last one.
