Some thoughts about Red Lanterns #33

The reign of Guy Gardner as leader of the Red Lanterns might be coming to an end.

Both Guy and John Stewart have been pretty distant due to the most recent events that have been affecting their lives. Nonetheless, Guy is decided to fix his relationship with his friend so maybe he can help him to stop Atrocitus who is getting more and more dangerous with each moment and each new member he recruits.

This issue certainly delivered in terms pay-off and entertainment I must say.

The whole Atrocitus War that has been teased for a while is getting closer and Charles Soule has done a masterful job at creating an engaging build-up where he not only told enjoyable stories but also developed quite good character work.

Such character work is represented in Guy Gardner and how all his actions, both good and bad have made him arrive to this point, not to mention that his dynamic with John Stewart is perfectly depicted and the writer also does a great work at portaying John and getting his character right.

The supporting cast also receive pretty good moments and development too, Bleez gets some time in the spotlight while her relationship with Rankorr is further explored. However, the best part of this section belongs to Skallox since his character goes to the most logical conclusion after some plot-points that were touched since issue 2.

Alessandro Vitti returns to handle the artwork and he's able to depict every character and terrifying segment perfectly thanks to his unique style.

One of the best issues from the week, I'm glad that it's continuing next week on the Annual.
