Some thoughts about Green Arrow #31

The final battle for the control of The Outsiders is upon us and no one's life is assured.

Komodo's last act of vengeance against Robert Queen has come in full force and Emiko will have to decide which side she wants to be in. Meanwhile, Oliver has finally gained control of the Totem Arrow and the destiny of The Outsiders will depend on his decision.

This is the conclusion of the critically acclaimed story arc "The Outsiders War" and I must say that as usual, Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino have done a terrific job not only at creating a proper finish but also planting the seeds for future stories.

When I say that nobody is safe, you need to believe me, nobody is. There are some shocking deaths inside here and in some cases they were a bit disappointing considering the potential of certain characters but I must say that all was still pretty well executed. Lemire's story is wonderful and it sets the stage of confrontation and resolution perfectly, everything has been building-up to this and Oliver's choice makes a lot of sense based on everything that happened in his life.

Plus, the sub-plots for future stories are already coming and some of them are pretty intriguing. Oh, and that last page, that wonderful last page brought a smile to my face.

Sorrentino's deserves half of the credit for the quality of the story as usual for his masterful stotytelling style, there are some really creative layouts here including one at the beginning that it's concentrated in Ollie's vision, simply incredible. All it's complemented by Marcelo Maiolo's beautifully dark colors that are a great complement to Sorrentino's artwork.

Pick of the week once again, this creative team is on fire. I'm convinced they can do no wrong.
