Some thoughts about Justice League United #1

Alanna Lewis has been kidnapped by a strange race of aliens and it's up to Adam Strange and the rest of the Justice League to save her.

There have been several strange events occurring lately not only in earth but also around the universe. People have been abducted from their homes to play into a mysterious experiment created by Lord Byth that has the potential to threaten every living being, can the Justice League stop him before it's too late?

This is basically the second issue from this series written by Jeff Lemire and I must say that he's indeed delivering in terms of the fun aspects.

For those who don't know, Lemire promised to go for a more lighthearted tone for this series in comparison to his more horror and serious oriented ones and he's certainly succeeding at this. The team dynamics are especially good and this is where this series shines the most, you can see great conversations between Martian Manhunter and Stargirl and Green Arrow and Animal Man, it helps to set the tone and also to develope the relationships between these characters. Plus, every member from the cast is portrayed perfectly on-point.

I have one complaint though and, believe or not, this is a common one that I tend to find in Lemire's work: His narration. At times his dialogue can be a bit  heavyhanded and blunt, stating the obvious and not letting enough to the imagination, not to mention that it's a bit unnatural at some points. Nothing that would ruin the reading experience but it's still noticeable.

Mike McKone continues to deliver a quite beautiful work on art, every character he draws look gorgeous and the action is pretty well depicted, it's necessary to mention that Marcelo Maiolo's wonderful colors help make the pencils even better.

This was a pretty good issue for this series but it needs to polish some things to get better.
