Some thoughts about Aquaman #43

Aquaman will have to deal with Mera's betrayal but is it all what it seems?

Mera hasn't been acting like herself and if Arthur wants to know what's truly happening he will need to help of other kings.

I'm genuinely preasently surprised by this.

Cullen Bunn delivers a new chapter where he starts developing a different story for the realm of Atlantis while making some interesting connections to other mythos.

Poseidon, the one who was created during Brian Azzarello's run Wonder Woman, actually appears here which makes a lot of sense all things considered and also explains Arthur's new abilities. Not only that but there are also new characters and sub-plots being introduced and they all seem to be interesting at the very least.

There's not a lot of plot progression per se but the chapter manages to explore more about what happened before this whole storyline. Speaking of which, yeah, Mera doesn't act like herself for a reason.

Trevor McCarthy still handles the art and his work is pretty creative with interesting layouts and storytelling.

I'm shocked to say that I enjoyed both books written by Bunn today. Shocked I tell you.
