Some thoughts about Batman and Robin Annual #2

A moment from the past reminisced by two persons who lost someone really important.

Bruce has just discovered a little gift that Damian left before his death and is something that has a relation with Dick Grayson's time as Robin.

I really loved this issue, Peter Tomasi's writing shine so much when he writes Damian that anything connected to him is also brilliant. We actually see Dick's early adventures with Batman as Robin and how their relationship was evolving since their first case together, the dynamic was quite well depicted and had some really heartwarming moments.

I also must say that this issue worked much better as an origin story for Dick Grayson than either issue 0 or the Zero year tie-in issue. Dick's personality automatically shines here, Tomasi really knows how to portray him.

About the art, what can I say? It has both Doug Mahnke and Patrick Gleason handling it, their styles are wonderful and complement each other's perfectly. If I had a complaint though, is that the inking is not the best for their work, especially for Mahnke.

Quite satisfying one-and-done story. Tomasi needs to bring this kind of tales more often.
