Some thoughts about Animal Man #27

After being chosen by the true sovereign of The Red, Animal Man is ready to face the monsters that are threatening it but could his new powers be enough?

Maxine is still dealing with the loss of his brother Cliff and she will have to learn that is necessary to accept certain aspects from life and move on. However, there are much bigger problems since Brother Blood has finally found her.

All it's coming together, Jeff Lemire is clearly preparing this series for its upcoming end. We see how the Baker family is dealing with the most recent events and how they should overcome them to continue. Plus, the way how Lemire is developing Buddy's new powers is quite interesting and he's clearly setting him up to his future appearance in Justice League United.

However, this was a bit of a fast read. I suppose that Lemire is taking his time so he canr each the end of the series adequately but I still feel he should have included more content here.

Rafael Albuquerque's art is wonderful and was made for this series. His creatures are monstrous and creepy while his human characters are able to show a big range of emotions.

Solid issue, it should have delivered a bit more plot but it was still satisfying.
