Some thoughts about Young Avengers #15

The Young Avengers are having their final celebration as a team.

Relationships will be broken and revisited, sexualities will be questioned and mysteries will be revealed while also appreciating the time they got together.

Ah, Young Avengers, I'm so regretful about meeting you so late in the game. Since issue 1 Kieron Gillen has been telling one of the most unique teenage superhero titles ever, scratch that, one of the best superhero titles ever, period. The amount of creativity and heart he was able to inject on this series was outstanding and this issue was no different, the interaction between all the characters felt pretty real and heartwarming and the final page was simply bittersweet.

I also just realized this was the gayest superhero book on the stands. Dammit, that would have grabbed my attention earlier.

Ongoing artist Jamie McKelvie is joined by Becky Cloonan, Ming Doyle and Joe Quinones and all of them bring a wonderful and similar tone to the issue that also exploits each character moment perfectly.

Amazing issue from an amazing series. Really sad to see it go.
