The New Superman's life is getting more complicate.
Justice League of China is facing the Chinese Freedom Fighters and this won't end well for any side, especially once that Kenan learns the truth about his leader.
Mixed thoughts about this quite frankly.
For one, I do like the overall story that Gene Luen Yang is creating. The worldbuilding which includes the development of the JLC along with the Chinese Freedom Fighters is pretty solid and manages to make a nice interpretation of those characters in Chinese culture (although I think they feel a little too much like stereotypes). The story progresses at a nice pace and there's a pretty interesting twist at the end that will most certainly change the course of the story.
THE PROBLEM is that Kenan can still be a pretty obnoxious protagonist, especially during his own narration boxes where he proclaims how great he is which is pretty unrealistic even for comic standards. Worse of all, it feels pretty dated since I sure as hell remember this kind of narration from characters in the 90's which is not something positive at all. Kenan once again manages to be more annoying than charming and thanks to his narration, he's more annoying to the audience than to the characters.
Viktor Bogdanovic continues on pencils and once again, he's the best part of the book with a beautiful, clean and distinctive style that creates great looking characters and precise storytelling.
Not so sure about this one but I liked a few parts of it.
