Ms. Marvel will have to go back to her roots to begin once again.
Kamala has been feeling terrible after her best friend's accident and now she will have to travel to Pakistan to try to reconnect with her family. However, things are not going to be any easier there.
Well, this was once again pretty enjoyable thankfully.
G. Willow Wilson brings a new chapter where she uses the ramifications of the last one, namely Bruno leaving Kamala after the accident, but strangely enough, the writer doesn't play too much with it and instead decides to focus on a solid little story. The character work remains strong with Kamala obviously being depressed after what happened but that doesn't stop her from doing what is right even in a new environment which demonstrates how likable she is.
Speaking about the environment, the new setting provides a lot of opportunities for worldbuilding and this issue doesn't disappoint since the author exploits her knowledge about the culture to explore more about it and even manages to introduce its own superhero and lifestyle.
Mirka Andolfo handles the pencils here and it was a pleasent surprise. Probably one of the best artists I've seen in this book yet who still manages to follow the style of the book while also giving it a distinctive look with beautiful and expressive characters and precise storytelling.
Good stuff, interested to see more about this.
