Who is controlling the Great Darkness?
Pariah has been following what he believes is his destiny but it seems like there might have been a greater force manipulating him all this time and now the final battle against the Justice League is about to start.
Okay, credit where credit is due, I felt this chapter finally reached the promise of the series.
Joshua Williamson is about to conclude his crossover and is actually delivering on what that kind of story needs. The big moments are right there with each little character-centric scene escalating powerfully towards the climactic fight against Pariah. While I'm not particularly fond of how much emphasis the writer gives to the relationship between Green Arrow and Black Canary (again, not a fan), I really dig how Williamson handled every single member of the cast and I think one of the best executed moments is when Jon Kent has to prove himself as Superman which creates an extremely satisfying moment that I feel has been lacking over the course of his time as the Man of Steel.
But that's the thing, the series shouldn't have taken this long to actually get good. Most of the issues have felt like padding until these final moments and it seems like the writer might be hinting at another "great evil" that is about to come and I really hope it happens in the final chapter and is not just a set-up for yet another crossover.
Daniel Sampere continues his fantastic work and exceeding expectations by delivering tons of fantastically depicted scenes that look epic and have a lot of detail.
Solid issue, the conclusion better be appropriate though.
