Some thoughts about The Death of Hawkman #1

Some heroes won't be able to survive.

Hawkman and Adam Strange have found themselves in another planet where they will have to fight for their lives and the rest of the universe.

Well, some things have changed about this series. The story was originally simply called "Out of Time" focusing on a team-up between Hawkman and Adam Strange but ultimately DC decided to give it the name "The Death of Hawkman" which... kinda gives away the premise.

However, there are still some fun aspects since Marc Andreyko successfully introduces Adam Strange to new readers by showing both his life as a common man and as protector of the universe. The little jokes about his character including how weird his life is and his brief time as a member of the Justice League are enjoyable and makes the little tale more entertaining overall.

The thing is that is a bit on the short side with not a lot happening. There's an explanation behind their current situation but aside from that, we don't learn a lot about what's actually happening nor who they're exactly fighting. This makes the issue a very quick read and it makes me wish there was more.

Aaron Lopresti handles the artwork and is as usual pretty solid with good looking characters, clean style and clear storytelling.

I liked it overall but hope the next one provides more plot.
