Mutants are dying and not even the X-Men might be able to stop it.
The essence that is creating Inhumans around the world is at the same time, destroying mutant genes and Storm believes that they need to be together more than ever to confront such problem.
This issue marks the beginning of one of my favorite writers, Jeff Lemire, working on the X-Men franchise. So does this issue delivers in its premise and promise?
Well, let's just say that I've seen this story before.
The X-Men are forced to confront a threat that is destroying their own kind. This is an overly-typical X-Men premise that has been used basically since the beginning of the team's existence but sadly, Lemire doesn't really present anything particularly distinctive about it and thus the issue is not able to get above what you would just call "okay".
The characterization is nothing to write about since is pretty much what you would expect from all these characters, is not particularly wrong but at the same time it doesn't offer any surprise in terms of portrayals.
I'm going to say this though: They definitely preparing the upcoming battle between Mutants and Inhumans which could end-up being interesting.
Humberto Ramos handles the art and his work is beautiful with a lot of fluidity in the character's movements and a quite clean and vibrant style.
Yeah, this is mediocre for the most part sadly. I'm surprised about how unimpressive it is.
