Who represents Gotham?
Batman is reflecting on everything that has been happening lately to him and the city and how things have changed since he first decided to fight for it and he might realize that it was actually for the better.
An era of Batman is officially over.
Scott Snyder deliver the conclusion of his run on this title by creating an epilogue that plays with a lot of the ideas he created since issue 1, in fact this installment is based a lot on issue 1 by playing with the idea of what Gotham really is and how is connected to its people. The themes are definitely nicely executed.
The different characters from the city also receive their respective scenes in the spotlight and while they're not big in terms of characterization, they certainly represent what this chapter in particular is about. About how after all, Batman makes this a better place.
Is obviously necessary to mention Greg Capullo's contribution to this finale and run as a whole. His beautiful style has always managed to capture the script perfectly and even improved with a great sense of storytelling and stunning characters.
A quite appropriate ending for a pretty solid run. Quite recommended.
