Some thoughts about Deathstroke #17

Deathstroke's past is going after him once again.

Slade has finally realized who the person who has been manipulating him all this time and it turns out that is yet another of his old friends. Now, both will have to fight to see who is the best.

Well, this pretty much came out of nowhere.

Okay, this villain has been introduced a few issues ago but the way how James Bonny tries to create a connection between Slade and him is completely useless. There's only one page, ONE, that tells their backstory together and how Slade thought the guy was dead which is somehow reason enough to want to kill him now. The motivations of the villain make no sense at all and even if they did, the relationship between the two is so poorly integrated into the story that makes you feel nothing.

The characterization continues to be terrible with Slade being too stupid to think about an actual plan while Rose acts just like a common teenage girl. Oh, and Ra's Al Ghul appears for some reason.

Tyler Kirkham handles the artwork and is pretty solid with appealing character models and strong action scenes.

Other than that, stay away from this. You're not missing anything.
