Did the Moon Knight actually exist?
Marc Spector has been in an asylum for a while, probably longer than he even believes but what he does believe is that he was once Moon Knight and needs to become him once again.
This series marks the beginning of yet another volume and another take of Moon Knight. This time handled by none other than Jeff Lemire, does this issue deliver the goods?
Well, as most of Lemire's books, it certainly does.
The writer immediately focuses on the hallucinations that Marc is suffering, about how all of them are connected to previous incarnations of the character and it works pretty well in that regard. Different characters from his life appears here and they're in the exact same place as he is playing even more with his own sanity.
The themes of reality and insanity are executed in a quite effective way due that in many instances one can't help but wonder if what is happening to Marc is actually real or everything is just happening in his head. Lemire even toys with the idea that nothing in Marc's life has been real and all this time he has been imagining it which makes the situation even more intriguing.
Plus, it appears that the series taking a more supernatural tone which is always welcomed.
Greg Smallwood handles the artwork and is quite good looking with a semi-realistic style and interesting panels and storytelling.
Lemire has done it again people, invested already.
