Some thoughts about Action Comics #38

The biggest horrors that Superman could have imagined are threatening Smallville.

Clark is currently trapped in a nightmare world while trying to save Lana from the creatures that are causing it but even if he escapes the rest of the town will still be in serious danger.

Holy crap, this was completely awesome.

Greg Pak brings one of his strongest scripts yet by developing more of the usual great Superman characterization but also dealing with some different aspects like the relationship he had with his parents as well as how that reflects in his own fears.

The whole horror theme of this storyarc has been greatly executed and this issue is a perfect example of that due to the horrifying moments that all the characters have to suffer.

Aaron Kuder deserves a lot of the praise due that this story becomes even better thanks to his artwork. The nightmare sequences are especially creative with a lot of style and distinctive panels, the detail is wonderful too. Jae Lee also does a solid job at the beginning but overall Kuder's work remains the best.

Excellent issue, one of the best I've read this week.
