Some thoughts about The Transformers: Punishment

The war might be over but for some it never ends.

Optimus Prime has been investigating the murders of some Decepticons while at the same time reconnecting to his old friend Sandstorm. However, once that the victims start to increase, Optimus will learn that no one really is innocent here.

This issue caught me by surprise since I wasn't expecting it to come out.

This particular one-and-done story written by John Barber, the ongoing writer of the main Transformers book, is focused on Optimus Prime, Windblade, Starscream and Sandstorm. The author fortunately manages to capture all their voices right and the characterization is pretty precise so far.

I'm only talking for myself here but it was nice to see Sandstorm receiving a bigger role considering that he's one of my favorite toys in the franchise (Yes, is a bit shallow of a reason) and it makes it even more shocking that events that unfold later.

You see, this is a mystery story and is one that is divived in chapters but is not one really difficult to follow and halfway is pretty clear who the true culprit is. At the end, the plot itself is a little disappointing.

Livio Ramondelli is in charge of the artwork and while his style is pretty distinctive and allows to create really good scenes, is also not really clear and lacks the ability to make good character expressions.

I would still say is a decent read despite that it doesn't really impress me, hope that there are bigger plans for the ramifications here.
