Some thoughts about Batman #38

Batman is going to learn the dark secrets of this city as well as the Joker's.

Gotham has been contantly under attacks after the Joker decided to go full force into it, but there's soemthing deeper hidden here, a strange substance that has been giving the Joker his powers since the creation of the city. To defeat him, Batman will have to work with people he hates.

Okay, I really can't take this seriously as much as Scott Snyder wants.

I have been complaining about how overdone the Joker's importance is since the beginning of this storyarc but now it has ascended to another level. We're lead to believe that he actually existed since the early days of Gotham as well as how he has always been as supernatural being thanks to a mysterious substance that is connected to other people like Ra's Al Ghul.

Which is all bullcrap.

This has scalated to total fanboy levels, it's so contrived and forced that is simply impossible to believe and is reaching (as much as I hate to say this line) fanfiction style. I truly hope that this ends-up just as a joke which would be appropriate all things considered.

Greg Capullo is wonderful, you all know that. Sadly, his complex and beautiful work is not enough for me to sell this story.

James Tynion continues with the fan wankery in the backup story where he explores more of the true nature of the Joker which again, doesn't really work. Sam Keith is in charge of the art and I will say his bizarre style is the best part of this tale.

Just terrible for me, I hope that people don't see this as an example of profound writing.
