Some thoughts about Green Arrow #52

Green Arrow will need to learn the best way to win.

Deathstroke managed to caught the man who can heal any illness for his client and Oliver will soon realize that is hardly his only problem.

You know, this actually wasn't half-bad.

Ben Percy brings the final issue of this series by introducing several of the plot-points he has created during his run, most prominently the whole werewolf thing. Yes, the whole premise of Ollie learning the meaning of privilege by being turned into a werewolf continues to be quite dumb and the sociocommentary here is still pretty heavyhanded.

Aside from that though, as a story it has its moments. The villain has enough personality to be interesting and Deathstroke proves to be an entertaining adversary and character. Again, if only Percy wasn't so fixated in falling into his own flaws, I think he would be able to write a decent superhero story. However, I have the feeling the we will still see more blunt premises from now on.

Szymon Kudranski continues in art duties and his work still looks great with expressive characters and really vibrant action scenes.

Not one of the worst issues from Percy's run but not the ideal way to conclude a volume that had Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino's essential run.
