Some thoughts about Superman: American Alien #7

Superman is about to face his greatest challenge yet.

Lobo has arrived to Earth and he's decided to finish his job which consists of killing as many people as he can and Clark might not be ready to face him.

This series comes to an end and while I've liked most of the chapters, this ending seems a bit unsatisfying.

Max Landis brings the finale by putting Clark against a logical adversary Lobo. The characterization seems pretty interesting as usual due to Landis finds a new twist for the antagonist, about how he doesn't understand why Superman is protecting this people if he's not receiving anything for it. The way how the power levels of both is also depicted in an strangely realistic way, not as powerful as they usually are, which allows for more freedom in the way how they fight and use elements from their environment.

However, here comes the complaint, I feel like some of the ideas were never implemented. In one of the early issues it seemed like a character who looked like Doomsday was actually going to appear and he never did. In another chapter Mr. Mxyzptlk appeared and it seems like it was only to show some of Landis' ideas since he was never seen again. It might be because the writer is preparing a new miniseries but this makes putting this ideas here in particular pointless and, say it with me, pretentious.

Also, the conclusion is not as exciting as I was expecting, it was okay and appropriate I guess but not particularly great.

Jock handles the artwork and he does a pretty good by making the scenarios dark and realistic while depicting the battle in a pretty detailed way with lots of blood included.

Good issue aside from some of those things I mentioned, wonder if this will actually continue.
