Some thoughts about Batgirl #52

Batgirl's life as she knows it is about to end.

Gladius is decided to obtain what she wants no matter if she has to put the kids from Gotham Academy in danger. Now is up to Barbara and her friends to stop her and at the same time say good bye to each other.

This era of Batgirl is officially over and while it doesn't have the whole creative team that started it, this issue still feels like a worthy conclusion.

Brenden Fletcher arrives with the final chapter of this storyline by basically making it a crossover with Gotham Academy. All of the characters are nicely portrayed based on their characterization in their respective books and offer some nice details about each one of them which makes sense considering that Fletcher handles both series.

Gladius is admitedly not that interesting as a villain, the most entertaining aspect of this issue actually is the relationship between Babs and her friends and how each one of them have influenced in her life which is nicely depicted by Barbara's memories of their first meeting which brings a lot of nostalgia to the story.

Eleondra Carlini and Minkyu Yung share the pencils here and their work is pretty good looking with a style that is pretty appropriate for the run with a cartoony tone and expressive characters.

Going to miss this kind of direction for the character as a whole. Hope the next run is just as good in its own style.
