War is about to come to Ms. Marvel's city but the not the kind one would expect.
There's a battle in the science fair between the New York and New Jersey's teams which include both Miles Morales and Kamala. What will be more important? Their victory or the sake of others?
Well, this was a pretty weird issue honestly.
G. Willow Wilson offers a new chapter where despite that this is a Civil War II tie-in, it doesn't feel like one fortunately due that the writer continues her ongoing story about Kamala's adventures both as a student as a superhero with cameo of Miles Morales.
And here is the problem, Miles was pretty out of character here based on how he appears in his book.
He seemed strangely egotistical and competitive, he was pretty close to be a young egomaniacal supervillain which is pretty far to the everyman portrayal he usually receives in his books. He only cared about winning and automatically started confronting Kamala at every point.
Speaking of which, why is there so much animosity between them? The last time I checked one of their encounters they acted pretty friendly and normal and now they're suddenly disliking each other. Sure, they make peace at the end but I understand the point of this.
Adrian Alphona returns to art duties and his work is obviously perfect for the book thanks to the expressive characters and fun storytelling. I would have liked his depiction of Miles if it was about a more appropriate character.
Kinda off despite that it tried to be an entertaining chapter.
