A semester in Gotham Academy is finally over.
Olive and Maps continue to investigate certain secrets of their academy while they still reminisce in some of the most enjoyable aspects of it while preparing for another year.
Okay, this volume is already over and while I was getting tired of this kind of format, this chapter was pretty enjoyable.
The main section continues to be written by Brenden Fletcher and still serves to connect the different little stories to the ongoing plot and still does a solid job at it. Adam Archer's artwork is not so good, nor as polished nor distinctive as I would prefer.
There's another segment focused on Professor Milo and his role in the academy. This is an interesting reinvention for the character that is still in the same vein as his usual incarnations while still presents some interesting plot-points for the future that will most likely be explored. Moritat handles the artwork here and is pretty solid this time, not many problems with storytelling.
Steve Orlando offers a little tale starring Maps and how she handles a teacher who asks his class too much, is fun enough based on its premise. Minkyu Jung is in charge of the pencils and the style is quite appealing and fitting for the title.
The third story is written and drawn by Natasha Alterici and is easily the best part of this installment. The premise focusing on Pomeline making a magic show with Maps as her assistant brings so many fun moments like Maps screaming "Avenge me!" when she's falling from the stairs and Pomeline actually showing she cares about her. The artstyle makes the story even more charming.
Finally, the last tale is written and drawn by Faith Erin Hicks concentrating on both Maps and Kyle about how the latter is trying to teach her to drive and is charming enough considering their characterization. The artwork is also solid.
Overall, is a satisfactory issue, at least for the Pomeline/Maps segment. However, I'm glad we're getting a new main story in the next volume.
