Prepare yourselves for the future.
Who is the new Batman dedicated to protect Gotham City? Whatever happened to Superman's secret identity? What will Darkseid's daughter bring to the universe?
Well, this issue certainly deliver a lot of explanations.
The first story is written by Scott Snyder and it consists of the ramifications about the conclusion of Endgame. It's overall a well-executed segment that sadly presents a pretty predictable reason about why there should be a Batman and an even more predictable man behind the mask, if you have been hearing the rumours this shouldn't be a surprise. Greg Capullo is brilliant as always thanks to his beautiful artstyle.
The second tale is handled by the new Superman writer Gene Luen Yang and it focus on something that will apparently happen in his run, I'm not going to tell spoilers here but based on rumours you should already know. The writer has a solid craft aside from some really awkward internet messages that seem to be written by someone who barely knows how people on the internet actually type. John Romita Jr. delivers an okay but sometimes rushed work in art duties.
The third segment is created by Geoff Johns and it concentrates on the upcoming Darkseid War storyarc and finally reveals the origin of Darkseid's daughter as well as her name. It's pretty well-written and it presents some interesting points about the future of the DCU. Jason Fabok is brilliant in art duties and delivers the best work of the entire issue.
In summary, I would say I liked Johns' story the best followed by Snyder's and Yang's on third. Pretty solid chapter and makes me excited for the upcoming arcs.
