The Seven Soldiers of Victory have no chance, but that won't stop them from fighting.
A mere cartoonist has seen his greatest heroes battle and lose but no matter what happens next, he's decided to follow their path and nothing could make him happier.
Pleasently surprised here.
Once again, Paul Levitz tells the final story of these classic and obscure characters from the perspective of a common human being and I can't help but thinking that Levitz actually reflects himself in him but for this kind of tale it works perfectly.
The author focuses on a tragedy where the heroes will ultimately lose and it's full of well-crafted nostalgia. Levitz obviously loves these characters and knows what they represent while at the same time tells a story with a theme similar theme as World's End but executed much better.
Jim Fern and Ron Wagner manage to deliver a solid artwork with expressive characters and clear storytelling. Pretty adequate.
Really, I feel like Levitz is better suited to this kind of stories more than anything else. He can actually be good.
