Some thoughts about Young Justice #1

What prompted Young Justice to return?

The world is at need of more superheroes, especially new blood and they're about to get it suddenly.

No, seriously, what prompted Young Justice to return?

And I'm not speaking about readers since we all wanted this particular team to come back pretty much since the end of the original series written by Peter David, I mean what prompted Young Justice to return in story?

Brian Bendis delivers pretty much what everyone has been asking for but in the most simplistic, convenient and easiest way possible. The characters are introduced right from the beginning without too much explanation about what happened in between to them. Wonder Girl's original origin has returned without any justification for it, Tim Drake is suddenly back as normal Robin and knows Bart out of nowhere, Amethyst makes contact to a few characters quickly, Conner Kent reappears at the end, new characters like Jinny Hex and Teen Lantern simply arrive.

I mean, you wanted a Young Justice book with all the classics and a few new additions? Well, you will get it but don't expect much more than that. The characters just appear, that's the whole plot.

And Bendis realizes this and tries to go meta by saying "You wanted it, Wonder Girl is back!" and "Young Justice is back!" but again, is not enough to want these characters to be back, there also needs to be some substance to their return. This is pretty much fanservice for the sake of fanservice while the story and content barely exists.

Patrick Gleason's artwork is fantastic as always, nothing to complaint there.

Aside from that, is a beginning, just not a particularly well planned one.
