Some thoughts about Titans #33

Whatever happened to Raven?

The Titans are going to investigate a realm they thought they would never come back to and by doing so, they will discover quite a few surprises.

Finally this plot-point comes back but it doesn't return in the best way.

Dan Abnett brings a new chapter where he finally continues the plot-thread of Raven being kidnapped in the dimension an old metahuman created. The story goes the way one would expect with the team trying to survive the horde of Tolkien-esque monsters and figuring out what's happening to one of their teammates. Abnett also connects this with the role that Mother Blood has been playing in the last few issues in a way that makes sense.

The problem is that none of this is particularly interesting nor exciting. The fighting is by the numbers, the characterization is decent but not compelling, the team dynamics don't offer a lot aside from the rare comedic moment (which is not even funny) and the plot progresses but not in a manner that makes you more invested.

Bruno Redondo's pencils are really vibrant and he makes the fight scenes quite energetic looking at least.

Aside from that, this is the pure definition of "serviceable" at best.
