Some thoughts about Justice League Odyssey #5

A religious war is about to start.

The team has realized what being a God actually means and how the conflict of beliefs could cause the doom of entire races.

This opening arc has come to an end and it has been satisfying so far.

Joshua Williamson concludes this storyline by delivering interesting developments based on the premise. The idea about how each of the protagonists are believed to be deities have been affecting them in their own unique ways and this is also reflected in the different cultures that venerate them. The fact that Cyborg's followers want to ascend to a cybertronic race presents an interesting conflict for Victor due that he doesn't want anyone to suffer the same, Azrael also gets a compelling character development since there's more about him than the ambitious jerk he was presented as at the beginning and shows his true moral code.

The plot offers interesting revelations that will an important role in the future. Darkseid's plans are finally explained and I'm pretty sure most of us knew he didn't have the best intentions, not to mention that new enemies are being created because of the ramifications of this story. If there's something that I had to complaint about is that the whole "religious war" angle is a bit heavyhanded but still feels appropriate for the theme of the plot.

Carmine Di Giandomenico handles the art and is really good thanks to his energetic style and vibrant storytelling.

Good read, hope things stay this way.
