Can Green Arrow face one of his worst enemies?
Count Vertigo has escaped prison and is ready to take revenge on the people who incarcerated him but that person is no longer among us.
The team of Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing return to the title after their last short story and while some things are adequate, is still far from ideal.
The best thing about this is that the narration is not as overwrought as their last effort and they nailed the dynamic between Ollie and Dinah due to the way how they play and joke with one another (the comparisons to Batman as a joke being the best part). The plot revolves around the return f Count Vertigo but at the same time the writers manage to include a new antagonist who wants to test Ollie's role as the city's protector and does a solid job at that.
That being said, the writing team still doesn't do the job as well as the Bensons during their previous story due that I believe that both the story and dialogue was better last time, even their antagonist was similar to this new one and I believe evoked a bigger presence. Not to mention that Kelly and Lanzing utilize the Ben Percy's version of Count Vertigo which is far from the best and so one-dimensional that it hurts, is a missed opportunity that they didn't address the one from Jeff Lemire's run.
Javier Fernandez handles the art and is solid as usual with his classic great storytelling and fluid style.
Not bad but still should have been better.
