Some thoughts about Hawkman #14

Who is in Hawkman's shadows?

Carter has been having nightmares and this could lead to an encounter to a forgotten enemy.

A new chapter begins and it touches a few interesting points but sadly feels like it's being too interfered by editorial.

Robert Venditti implements this installment to reintroduce a classic Hawkman villain. The appearance of the Shadow Thief is welcomed considering that is always cool when writers reinvent classic characters, particularly one that belongs to such a small rogues gallery like Hawkman's although is a bit of a shame that they didn't reference the previous Shadow Thief who I believe was a woman. There's also a few hints about how Carter's original incarnation might not be the only evil one which should be something interesting to explore in the future.

The thing I don't particularly dig about this issue is that Shadow Thief's appearance is heavily influence by the current Year of the Villain event which wouldn't be that much of a problem if the conclusion of this issue wouldn't have been about his recruitment which is pretty similar to how it happened in Red Hood this same week and seems like an editorial mandate. Hope other titles don't follow the same trend.

Pat Olliffe handles the art and is decent with expressive characters and appropriate storytelling.

Not bad but hope the next one is better.
