Some thoughts about Batman #75

Who controls Gotham City?

A lot has changed in Gotham during Bruce's absence, villains are the ones keeping the city safe and all of this is because of one single person.

An oversized issue is here and I don't quite understand why since this is not exactly issue 50 or 100 but at the same time, I think this is an actual competent one.

Tom King delivers a new installment where he explores a Gotham City conquered by Bane. The city is "protected" by Thomas Wayne and Gotham Girl while most of the other Batvillains serve as the police and such. It almost feels like another reality and it works fairly well here since it emphasizes how Bane's influence has affected the whole place, sure, I have A LOT of problems with how King has portrayed Bane as an all-knowing mastermind who can predict the future since that's the only way his plans could have worked but I believe this is a more effective way to depict such imposing characterization.

Also, is interesting to see all these villains in these different ways like Hugo Strange as the Commissioner, Professor Pyg as a cop, Firefly as a fireman of all things, is just intriguing stuff and allows for a few entertaining takes like how Two-Face reacts to the whole situation.

Plus, this is another Year of the Villain tie-in that actually uses the format of the offering during the final pages in a more unique way which I appreciate.

Tony Daniel and Mitch Gerads handle the art and both do a great job during their respective segments with clear storytelling.

Good read, now let's see if things stay this way.
