Some thoughts about Justice League Dark #13

Who can help the Justice League Dark?

The team needs to prepare for an upcoming war and to do so they will need to recruit as many powerful beings as they can find no matter the danger they represent.

An interlude issue and not a particularly interesting one quite frankly.

James Tynion IV delivers a new chapter where he sets-up pieces as usual. The issue is divided in three segments with the first one being devoted to the ramifications of the last arc concerning Doctor Fate and how he can help the team which is a disappointment since it seems like it's denigrating Khalid in favor of Kent Nelson and this is bad because Khalid was a far more interesting incarnation. The second segment is focused on the relationship between Constantine and Zatanna which seems decently handled but I'm tired of their relationship being so forced everywhere, I wish they would get over each other already (although the ending might be pointing towards that). Finally, the last part is more Year of the Villain stuff but Tynion doesn't do anything to make it more interesting.

And that's the thing, this is just preparing us for an upcoming event that Tynion is heavily teasing but considering how all of his previous stories haven't been that engaging, I'm not really excited about the future and so, this issue feels like a complete waste.

Mark Buckingham and Daniel Sampere handle the art and they do a good job during their respective segments with pretty flexible styles that pay homage to previous events.

Not great, not expecting much from what's coming next.
