Some thoughts about Supergirl Annual #1

A menace from the future is coming for Supergirl.

Kara is starting to lose the faith of the people after the recent attack and her enemies are going to make things even worse once that they come for her loved ones.

I decided to stop buying this book since the last few stories have been pretty boring for the most part but since there was barely anything to read this week, I decided to try this one and I'm kinda happy that I did.

Steve Orlando comes up with an Annual story that I guess is a continuation from the last issue (which I didn't read) but it works surprisingly well on its own. For one, I really like that Orlando is bringing back Indigo, a favorite of mine from Judd Winick's Outsiders series, in a pretty logical way that actually fits the theme of Supergirl in many aspects (especially considering their connection to the future). The use of other characters like the Emerald Empress also suits the course of the story.

Not to mention that this issue offers a lot of content in terms of both character and plot progression. One of the running plot-points about Supergirl's powers continues to be developed while the conclusion from the first arc is included in an adequate manner. The rest of the cast also get some solid scenes.

Steve Pugh handles the artwork and my God, having a competent artist makes a world of change. Pugh's style is beautiful and his storytelling is perfect to follow Orlando's script, is good to know that he's not only limited to less conventional books like Animal Man or The Flintstones.

Quite enjoyable fortunately, let's see if the book can continue this way.
