Some thoughts about Super Sons Annual #1

Could this be the Super Pets' last mission?

Krypto and Titus are decided to help a bunch of animals who have been kidnapped and to do so, they will have to bring back the old team.

My God, this might be the most precious thing I've read this week.

Peter Tomasi develops an one-and-done story focusing this time on the boys' dogs and is as charming as you wished for. One of the best parts about this Annual is how well it sets-up the story since it opens like an usual issue of Super Sons with the classic entertaining characterization and interaction between Jon and Damian which seamlessly leads to the craziest moments in the plot.

At first you might think that Tomasi is not taking this premise seriously based on how bizarre it is which becomes very suspect once that out of continuity characters like Streaky the Supercat and Flexi the Plastic Bird appear, hell, the fact that Detective Chimp apparently has a history with the team makes all of this pretty absurd but the writer still goes full with the insanity and manages to deliver heartwarming moments like when Streaky returns the team and forgives Krypto and maybe, just maybe, a bit of social commentary about animal activists. All of this culminating in a quite hilarious fist bump.

Paul Pelletier handles the pencils and is quite strong with a great depiction of expressions and storytelling.

Incredibly charming, easily one of the best things I've read recently.
