Some thoughts about Detective Comics #968

Can Tim Drake stop himself?

Tim from the future is ready to kill Batwoman to prevent his time from happening. However, his other-self is not willing to quit so easily.

This storyline concludes and quite frankly, is yet another disappointment.

James Tynion IV delivers the last chapter of A Lonely Place of Living and while it works fine enough as a reintroduction of Tim Drake, I don't think it works so much as a story. The menace of future Tim was over quickier an in a much less dramatic way than expected which makes you question the whole weight of the plot as well as its meaning.

Worst of all, Tynion didn't focus so much on delivering an actual satisfying conclusion as much as planting the seeds for a future storyline and it reminds me of some of the worst moments from a Marvel event comic handled by Brian Bendis (who is now DC exclusive funnily enough). Is not that this finale is terrible per se but lacks a certain emotional punch and closure that it was required for a story that was so hyped like this one.

Alvaro Martinez' pencils are gorgeous though, he has a great storytelling skill the gets the best from every scene and character.

Yeah, I think I'm dropping this book now. Not worth investing more time in it.
