Is Moon Knight about to meet his match?
An immate called Patient 86 is being treated for his strange bipolar disorder who quickly draws parallels to a familiar face. However, those parallels are about to get more real than anyone expected.
A new Moon Knight storyline begins here and so far it seems like a promising one.
Bringing back the original numbering, Max Bemis delivers a story that begins as a mystery that escalates perfectly towards the end. A Moon Knight story that strangely doesn't star Moon Knight himself (yet) and yet it still presents quite a few interesting contrasts with the classic character. Bemis utilizes Patient 86 to create a similar situation like with what happened to Marc, all from the eyes of his psychiatrist which helps to develop the supernatural direction that he's going for which begins to become more and more terrifying once that the truth is revealed.
This seems to be building-up from Jeff Lemire's Moon Knight run but is taking its own liberties with the conclusion of that story. Mind you, I would have prefered if things would have been kept as Lemire left them but the more mysthical direction is not bad and could turn out to be interesting. The dialogue is witty and helps to set the mood of the plot perfectly.
Jacen Burrows is in charge of art duties and I really love the style, is really clean and expressive while being able to depict every scene nicely.
Interesting start, let's see how it continues.
