Some thoughts about Optimus Prime #15

The war is inevitable.

Onyx Prime has just revealed his presence and now Optimus will have to defend Earth and all of existence from him.

Well, this one worked better than the last few issues at least.

John Barber opens a new storyline that seems heavily connected to the current toyline Power of the Primes which means that he's going to bring several old characters with Leader-class status into the plot and in fact many of them have been already teased, is a nice nod to fans as a whole. The story progresses at a nice pace with many developments being addressed at the same time so it doesn't suffer from the same slow pacing as before.

Best of all is that, while it focuses on many characters at the same time, the issue still manages to make most of those segments interesting which is something that the last few entries didn't have. The character work for most of the cast is really solid and offers a natural progression for the upcoming events.

Kei Zama returns to art duties and her work is still quite detailed and unique thanks to her distinctive style that creates strong character models.

Solid beginning, now let's just hope it stays this way.
