Some thoughts about Nightwing: The New Order #6

Can a boy save the entire world?

Dick is still trying to make things right to save his son but he will soon realize he needs to start paying attention to him instead.

This miniseries has come to an end and while not something mindblowing, it did manage to deliver a pretty solid story.

Kyle Higgins delivers the final chapter by presenting a satisfying conclusion that is perfectly in character for the protagonist. Higgins always understood the character of Dick Grayson, this was pretty obvious during his Nightwing run (which suffered mostly because of editorial interference) and here he presents an old version of him that clearly had to make the hard choices but in a way that it was still in-line with the classic personality that you can expect from him. In fact, the conversation between Dick's son and him reveals pretty interesting and accurate aspects of his relationship with Bruce as well.

Higgins references many of the same themes he created during his previous work on the character including the line: "Catching people when they fall" but he further explores it to deliver a compelling idea that despite of all Dick's good traits, he was not really perfect and could make mistakes along the way. In fact, this series was all about the mistakes that Dick had to make but ultimately realized that he needed to do right thing as usual.

Trevor McCarthy remains in art duties and his work is still quite good thanks to his unique style and solid storytelling.

Pretty decent conclusion and series overall. Hope we see more of the writer in the future.
