Some thoughts about Blue Beetle #4

What is the secret origin of Blue Beetle?

Jaime's life has been constantly changing since his first encounter with the scarab and things are going to get worse once that he realizes the scarab is making even more changes in him.

Well, this is taking an interesting direction.

It seems like Keith Giffen is retconning everything that happened during Tony Bedard's Blue Beetle run in the New 52 to create his own origin and if you know something about Bedard's run then you know this is for the better. I'm liking this premise so far, Giffen is connecting every character to the classic Blue Beetle mythos, not only Jaime since Ted also shows that he was interested in the codename at one point while also introducing Dan Garrett to the story in a way that makes a lot of sense. Everything is coming together.

The dialogue and interaction between the characters are still pretty engaging since Giffen does know how to create interesting lines for them while developing their relationship.

Scott Kolins remains in art duties and at times his work is a bit rough but he still knows how tell the story with expressive characters and intense scenes.

So far, so good. I just hope Giffen is carefully planning this story.
