Some thoughts about Supergirl #36

Supergirl want to put her life in the right path but is easier said than done.

After all the disasters that have been happening recently, Kara has decided to make things right. Now, an organization called the Crucible Academy has just abducted her and their objective is to try to help her with her problems. Should she trust them?

This issue marks the beginning of yet another new era for Supergirl,

Mike Johnson returns to the title he helped launch along with Michael Green (I should mention that they're work was probably the best of the series), this time however, he's accompanied by newcomer writer Kate Perkins so do their combined efforts deliver?

Well, for the most part it does.

The beginning of the issue is used to mock some of the events that have been happening during this year worth of stories including Red Daughter and Doomed, and both authors manage to get a bit of logic and humour from both crossovers while also creatig a good dynamic between Supergirl and Superman.

The Crucible Academy seems an interesting place so far but the best part is some returning characters. Maxima is being introduced to the New 52 as well as Comet (although we don't know if is the same Captain Comet as the one from Action Comics) which creates a lot of potential for the future.

The dialogue is pretty solid. Kara at least seems to have a personality unlike in the previous run so is an upgrade.

Of course, one of the best parts from this issue is the artwork and Emanuella Luppachino doesn't disappoint. Her characters are gorgeous, the settings are quite vibrant and the storytelling is pretty nice.

Overall, a satisfying beginning, hope they continue the good work.
