Owlman wants the perfect family so he destroyed his old one to build a new one.
The Crime Syndicate is still ruling over the world and Owlman is taking control of the organized crime that exists in this earth but deep inside he has a weakness and that's the brother he never got, Dick Grayson.
Another issue focusing on a member of the Crime Syndicate and so far this is proving to be a quite good direction for this title. This time, Geoff Johns concentrates in Owlman by giving him an origin that is so sick and twisted that complements his nature perfectly, it was a truly great way to differentiate him from his previous incarnations and turn him into a believable threat to the world.
The worldbuilding was pretty nice too. Here we saw the different families of organized crime and even the origin of one of the craziest members of the Justice League, Plastic Man.
A complaint that I have however, is that it seems like the issue changed its original plans. If you check the cover this issue was supposed to feature Ultraman too but he doesn't appear at all here.
Doug Mahnke replaces Ivan Reis on art and he works great for the most part but sadly, having four different inkers including Mahnke himself starts hurting the quality of his art halfway. still, it doesn't ruin it.
Great issue and I hope that Johns continues giving us more origins for the rest of the Crime Syndicate.
